Ketum PSSI Edy Rahmayadi mengungkapkan alasannya yang sempat keberatan jika eks pemain Bhayangkara FC, Evan Dimas Darmono dan Ilham Udin Armaiyn, merumput di Malaysia.
Keduanya bahkan dicap tak nasionalis karena hijrah ke Selangor FA. Edy keberatan itu karena Indonesia masih kekurangan pemain terutama yang memiliki kemampuan bagus.
"Sembilan even sepakbola internasional tahun 2018 ada di Indonesia. Pemain bola kita saat ini yang terdaftar di FIFA jumlahnya 76 ribu," kata Edy di Medan, Selasa 23 Januari 2018.
"Bapak-bapak tahu, di Malaysia yang penduduknya 28 juta, pemain bolanya ada 102 ribu. Singapura penduduk hanya 5 juta tapi pemain bolanya ada 67 ribu. Kita yang 250 juta pemain bola kita hanya 76 ribu. Itu Ricky Yakub masih terdaftar di situ," katanya.
Edy melanjutkan, di tahun 2017 dia tak pernah melarang pemain untuk berkarier di luar Indonesia. Tapi, di tahun 2018, Edy meminta para pemain lebih memilih bermain di Indonesia.
"Tolonglah di 2018, pemain sepakbola jangan ke luar (berkarier di klub luar negeri). Kita bela bangsa ini. Apalagi Asian Games, tanggal 28 Agustus 2018, Indonesia harus main. Apakah saya yang disuruh main?" katanya.
"Saya bilang sama Evan Dimas. Kamu itu Kapten, masa kamu harus ke luar. Di mana nilai kebangsaanmu?" ungkapnya.
Tak hanya itu, Edy membandingkan pendapatannya dengan Evan Dimas. Kata Edy, saat dia menjadi TNI dan berpangkat Letnan Jendral, hanya mendapat penghasilan Rp30 juta per bulan.
"Kalau Rp1,5 miliar (semusim), berarti sebulan dia (Evan) itu Rp100 juta. Saya tanya, hei kau tahu tidak? Aku Letnan Jenderal ini gajiku berapa? Gaji saya Rp30 juta," sebut Edy.
Dalam kesempatan yang sama, Edy juga sempat mengkritik Evan Dimas saat membandingkan pendapatan bermain di Indonesia dan Malaysia.
